2 Arizona Women Found Dead in Overturned Vehicle on Mexico Highway, Police Say
Two Arizona women were found dead in an overturned vehicle on a highway in Mexico, police said.
The women, identified as 26-year-old Ashlynne Mike and 27-year-old Kristine Frost, were from the Phoenix area.
The women were traveling in a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee when the vehicle overturned on Highway 2 in Sonora, Mexico, about 60 miles south of the Arizona border, at around 11:30 p.m. local time on Saturday, according to the Sonora state attorney general's office.
What Happened?
The cause of the crash is under investigation, but police said the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and may have hit a pothole.
The women were pronounced dead at the scene.
Who Were the Victims?
Ashlynne Mike was a member of the Tohono O'odham Nation and worked as a social worker for the tribe.
Kristine Frost was a teacher at a charter school in Phoenix.
