Celtics defeat Mavericks 107-89. Kristaps Porzingis, back from a calf injury, dropped 20 points, including 18 in the second half, to lead the Mavericks in scoring. Luka Doncic added 19 points, and Spencer Dinwiddie chipped in 15 off the bench. But it wasn't enough to overcome a strong performance from the Celtics, who were led by Jayson Tatum's 29 points. Jaylen Brown added 22 points, and Marcus Smart chipped in 18.
The Celtics took control of the game in the second quarter, outscoring the Mavericks 32-18. They extended their lead to 20 points in the third quarter and never looked back. The Mavericks made a run in the fourth quarter, cutting the lead to 10 points with less than five minutes to play. But the Celtics held on for the victory.
The Celtics now have a 1-0 lead in the series. Game 2 will be played in Boston on Friday night.
